At Prodrive Technologies this is our core purpose, it is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to innovate with purpose and to create positive impact for people, planet, and prosperity.
With our world facing unprecedented challenges such as climate change, rapid urbanization, resource scarcity, population growth and the energy transition, our role as a company has never been more vital.
Looking toward the future, our integral 2030 sustainability strategy and ambitions will drive change and harness the extraordinary power of innovation, for a more sustainable and future-proof world for us all.
We recognize that to maximize our impact we need to work together. Therefore, we have aligned our strategy with the world’s blueprint for action: the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
We focus on five strategic sustainability pillars to minimize the social and environmental impact of our operations and maximize the positive impact of our products and services
Sustainability is something we can only achieve together. Our 2030 sustainability strategy is therefore aligned with the world’s blueprint for action: the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This set of 17 global goals seeks to secure a better and more sustainable future and world for all. In support of these global goals our company focuses on contributing to those where we can have the biggest impact.
By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix
We develop technologies and energy infrastructures which increase the capacity for storing renewable energy. By investing in development of this technology we are contributing to making it a stronger economic proposition, which in turn leads to a higher uptake of renewable energy in the global energy mix. This also reduces our global reliance on fossil fuels.
We are expanding the use of renewable energy in our operations and offices. At our site in the United States, we already have placed solar panels on our buildings.
By 2030, double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency
We are continually working to improve the energy efficiency of our products so that these consume less electricity.
In our own operations and facilities, we seek to be as energy efficient as possible, including retrofitting our buildings with energy efficient lighting.
Sustain per capita economic growth in accordance with national circumstances and, in particular, at least seven per cent gross domestic product growth per annum in the least developed countries
We are one of the fastest growing privately owned technology companies in Europe. Over the last 20 years we have grown by 20% each year. Our 2030 objective is to continue scaling up and achieve a high growth objective.
Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high value added and labour-intensive sectors
Innovation, development and growth is at the heart of what we do. We are focused on innovating, diversifying our products and services, and upgrading technology. This allows us to keep developing and producing high-value added products, increasing our levels of economic productivity.
By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value
Our people are our biggest asset. We strive to provide them with excellent working conditions and a safe, inclusive, healthy, and open work environment. We provide equal pay for work of equal value, regardless of age, gender or race.
By 2020, substantially reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training
We aim to invest in young people and facilitate their growth, the average age of our employees being 28. We seek to continually expand this, having sustained a 25% annual growth in employees over the last 20 years.
Our company has a strong record of collaboration with universities and student groups. We offer students opportunities to gain experience and skills, thereby also helping them to improve their job prospects.
By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities
We continue to develop and invest in fitting our buildings with technology which helps make our operations more sustainable. Through such innovation we are also working toward a higher level of automation at our production sites, allowing us to reduce waste and human error. We also work to achieve a high level of energy efficiency, in line with our office buildings.
We are committed to embedding circular design principles into all our newly introduced products. We are therefore placing a greater focus on resource-use efficiency and how to develop and improve processes to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Enhance scientific research, upgrade the technological capabilities of industrial sectors in all countries, in particular developing countries, including, by 2030, encouraging innovation and substantially increasing the number of research and development workers per 1 million people and public and private research and development spending
As leading innovators, we continue to make significant investments in research and development. More than half of our employees are also actively focused on research, development and engineering.
With our employees, and by partnering with other companies and knowledge institutions, we seek to play our part in the innovation ecosystem.
By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources
Through our commitment to incorporate more circular design principles into our newly introduced products, we are focused on sustainable management and efficient use of resources. To become more responsible, we will keep the scarcity and embedded energy of resources in mind from the outset of a product's lifecycle.
By 2020, achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their lifecycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment
We adhere to (national) regulations and standards regarding the management of chemicals, waste and materials. For over a decade we have also been certified for the environmental management standard ISO14001.
By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse
We continually strive to improve our waste program and processes to reduce waste. In line with our ambitions to be more circular we are exploring how we can better integrate prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse in our processes. Alongside this we are actively trying to improve energy efficiency throughout our products’ lifecycles, contributing to reducing waste, as well as achieving a higher level of reuse and value retention along throughout the value chain.
Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle
With our 2030 sustainability strategy we have announced our ambitions in the journey to become more sustainable. We will continue to report our progress in achieving our objectives. As part of our focus on creating a more responsible supply chain we are stimulating and supporting our suppliers to implement more sustainable practices.
Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters in all countries
Our business is committed to making our operations as resilient and sustainable as possible. By adopting a sustainability strategy with objectives which act on the need to decarbonize and future-proof our company we help to combat climate change and its effects.
Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning
In our sustainability strategy we have outlined a set of missions and objectives we strive to achieve by 2030. In tandem to this we continue to evaluate and identify the risks which climate change poses to our business and respond through adaption and mitigation to ensure business continuity.
