The to-do list of a Category Buyer
The first item on the to-do list of a Category Buyer is monitoring the orientation phase, project phase and ultimately the series production phase with the aim of translating customer requirements into the Supply Chain to meet optimal conditions and agreements. You work closely with your fellow buyers: sourcing, commercial and project buyers. You run the Business Review Meetings with suppliers to evaluate the past quarter, you retain the relationship and ensures that the most efficient procurement channels are followed. Just like any Strategic Buyer within Prodrive Technologies you are responsible for your own set of suppliers and manufacturers called purchase portfolios and monitor the Product Life Cycle of products and components in all phases. Besides these activities you also focus on issues like, contract negotiation, selecting new suppliers, sourcing new technologies and dealing with challenges within the Supply Chain.
