About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Global Engineering Manager to join and build our team in the US (Canton, MA). The Global Engineering Manager will be responsible for designing and engineering products, starting with a topology to qualifying it in our highly equipped laboratory. You will also be primarily responsible for growing, managing, and developing our local R&D team. You will be working closely with project managers and our program leaders to make sure we have the right talent locally. The ideal candidate will possess a designer mindset along with excellent leadership skills and to be able to work in an international collaborative environment. One of your main tasks is to support and lead an application engineering team to support US based clients who are using and integration our products.
Key responsibilities
- Long-term capacity planning, local R&D budgeting, and R&D reporting
- Design and engineer alone or with a team
- Coordinate cross-functional teams
- Lead project execution and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products/services while maintaining development standards and continuous improvement
- Adhere to timelines, budgets, and standards while fostering innovation and improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, firmware developers, customer, and project managers, to define requirements and specifications for test setups.
- Approve change requests and is accountable for stage gate process
- Mentor our current team of engineers, ensuring they have the right guidance and motivation to complete their work in full
- Work on complex projects that fit the US customer base and PTUS manufacturing facility. Currently: Power Conversion (specifically onboard power systems like DCDC and hydrogen power systems such as Airda) and Embedded Computing Systems (including servers, cabinets, and controls)
- Manage and develop our local R&D team, including engineers and project managers
- Responsible for the personal/professional growth of our R&D team members
- Continuously assist in improving our project management processes
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to the team and assist in resolving issues on projects
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in power electronics and engineering, applying knowledge to continuous improvement initiatives
- Work effectively across different countries and cultures, especially with our headquarters in the Netherlands, ensuring smooth global cooperation
Profile
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
10+ years of experience in design work
4+ years of managerial experience
Experience in the technologies industries and more specifically Power Conversion is preferred
Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning and professional development
Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely
Strong track record of successfully collaborating with international teams
Authorized to work in the US
