Son, January 26th, 2017 – Prodrive Technologies’ PM2.5 sensor is one of three finalists still in the running for the Automotive Innovation Award (AIA) in the category Technology. After nomination, another selection round took place in which the jury, led by Jan Peter Balkenende, carefully selected three innovations for the finals. The Automotive Innovation Award is introduced to give a stage to promising automotive innovations, developed in the Netherlands. The winners of the prestigious awards will be announced on February 13th, 2017.
The PM2.5 sensor measures fine particles, an important indicator of air quality. The system measures fine particles both inside as well as outside a car simultaneously. Based on these measurements, the fresh air intake, filtering and recirculation control can be optimized to improve interior air quality. Furthermore, the difference between outside and inside air quality can be visualized through the Human Machine Interface (HMI) of the car.
