质量控制，不是说说而已

Working as a Quality Engineer has been a fun and interesting challenge since the beginning and guarantees one thing: You never get bored!

My day nearly always starts according to plan, but in most cases a new un-anticipated challenge will occur later and will require attention. This variety is what makes this job so rewarding, as you learn new things and help improve yourself and people around you daily.

Today, everything went as planned:

I started my day with a review meeting regarding a water-cooled computing cabinet’s mechanical design. In close collaboration with the System architect and the mechanical designers, we helped identify areas with room for improvement in the design, in order to optimize both our production flow, but also product’s reliability and customer’s satisfaction. Being part of such multi-disciplinary teams where your input is valued is something that really makes me love my job.

After this, I finish my statistical analysis on production data of a complex embedded computing processing board. Results indicated that recently there was increased failure rate on one of the production tests. After a close investigation together with the process owner, test architect and service engineer we were able to identify the root-cause and setup the improvement plan.

In the afternoon, I have a meeting with a service engineer in order to analyze some defective motion controller boards as part of an 8D investigation.

At the end of my day I’ll have to prepare for a call with the customer in order to discuss the performance of our products on the field and align on whether all the goals for our customer satisfaction are met or improvement actions will be required.

Quality is always about team effort and being part of the Prodrive Quality team makes this part even better. This is not a routine job where data monitoring is the only task.

It is also about multi-disciplinary tech investigations, great collaboration and knowledge exchange with engineers, project leaders, process owners and technicians. It is about using all kinds of equipment from microscopes to x-rays, all kinds of input from database analysis tools that help identify failure patterns and increase one’s critical ability. You learn new things and also have the chance to feel your impact on the organization’s improvement every single day and this is what always keeps my motivation high and makes love my job.
