Prodrive consists of multiple business lines and is a rapidly growing business. In anticipation of further growth, the Prodrive R&D organization needs further professionalization. As such Prodrive is seeking a Development Lead to the R&D organization of the Embedded Computing Systems (ECS) business line.
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Computing Systems Development Lead to join and build our team in the Netherlands. The Development Lead will report to the Business Line Director of ECS and will have direct reports comprising around 100 FTE. This role encompasses the full scope of our ECS program, including both the computing & controls and connectivity portfolios.
As Development Lead, you will be primarily responsible for growing, managing, and developing our local R&D team. You will work closely with project managers and program leaders to ensure we have the right talent locally. The ideal candidate will possess a designer mindset along with excellent leadership skills.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the project portfolio in scope of ECS program, according to the latest standards.
- Oversee life cycle management of the existing portfolio, including value engineering, cost down, and transfer activities, ensuring optimization of existing products.
- Adhere to timelines, budgets, and standards while fostering innovation and improvements.
- Develop and manage our local R&D team, including engineers and project managers.
- Ensure the personal and professional growth of our R&D team members.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to the team and resolve issues on projects.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in embedded computing and engineering, applying knowledge to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Translate customer roadmaps into technical roadmaps and execute related competence development plans, building a team ready for the next growth phase.
- Engage and manage team performance, including setting targets.
- Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with management team members to own the P&L of the program, targeting profitable growth.
- Ensure close collaboration with key stakeholders in operations and supporting functions like Finance and HR.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
15+ years of experience in embedded system design and development
10+ years of managerial experience
Experience in the embedded computing industry, specifically with system integration, is preferred
Strong understanding of embedded computing principles and architectures
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning and professional development
Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely
