About the role
Prodrive Technologies is a leading provider of high-quality PCB manufacturing and assembly services. Our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) department plays a critical role in delivering reliable electronic assemblies, powering industries from medical devices to clean energy and automotive.
We’re seeking an SMT Rework Technician to perform precision soldering and component-level repairs on complex PCB assemblies as a member of our growing team. You’ll operate advanced tools and inspection systems to ensure high-quality results that meet strict IPC standards. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform SMT soldering/desoldering and rework on fine-pitch components such as 0201 and QFN packages per IPC and J-STD standards
- Operate SMT microelectronics equipment: soldering irons, hot plates, fluxing/reflow tools
- Inspect and correct defective solder joints using AOI, X-ray, and microscopes
- Identify and select appropriate components according to specifications and documentation
- Ensure proper solder joints, free from defects such as cold solder joints, bridges, and shorts
- Record and maintain accurate production logs of solder defects and rework activities
- Maintain and clean soldering equipment, including soldering irons and rework stations
- Report to the Production Team Leader and support continuous improvement initiatives
Profile
1+ years of Electronic Soldering experience required, preferably in a high-volume environment
High School diploma or equivalent
Authorized to work in the U.S.
Ability to learn advanced BGA solder reflow equipment
Strong accountability, attention to detail, and concentration for long periods
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for high-precision work under a microscope, and use of fine motor skills for assembly tasks requiring microscopes and tweezers
Comfortable using computers for daily tasks
Strong communication skills (English); eager to learn and take initiative
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with MES, 5S, and ESD-safe environments
IPC and/or JSTD certification including IPC-A-610, IPC 7711/7722, or JSTD-001
